Understanding pass marks - OCR (2023)

The pass mark for each assessment is determined by an awarding process. Responsibility for setting the final pass mark resides with OCR. Pass mark range statements are below.

Functional Skills English

Level 1 (09498) and Level 2 (09499)

  • Reading Level 1 assessments are designed to have a pass mark in the range of 14-16 marks.
  • Writing Level 1 assessments are designed to have a pass mark range of 21-23 marks.
  • Reading Level 2 assessments are designed to have a pass mark in the range of 13-15 marks.
  • Writing Level 2 assessments are designed to have a pass mark in the range of 21-23 marks.

Functional Skills Maths

Level 1 (09865) and Level 2 (09866)

Both Level 1 and Level 2 assessments are designed to have a pass mark in the range of 32-37 marks.

Functional Skills ICT

Level 1 (09876) and Level 2 (09877)

  • Level 1 assessments are designed to have a pass mark in the range of 40-42 marks.
  • Level 2 assessments are designed to have a pass mark in the range of 47-49 marks.
